Welcome to the Framework

Introducing the new WDC Sass Framework.

This documentation is used to explain and give examples of the typography and typical elements of the new framework and style guide.

Why a new framework?

Years ago when we adopted the Bootstrap framework, the idea of responsive websites was new to us. Since then not only have our experiences grown but our knowledge and understanding of what our clients typically need in a responsive site has grown as well.

Now, Bootstrap is a great kitchen-sink style framework - tries to give you everything you would need - and still continues to work well, but with web designs changing across the industry, the upgrades in styling/scripting across the latest browsers, and the need to achieve faster, better-performing sites, we decided that Bootstrap consists of too much bloat. So based on our experiences and coding sites for the last several years, we decided to create our own streamlined Sass framework that should help build sites quicker and more efficiently, but also keep files sizes small and more proficient.

What does this mean for design/planning?

Nothing. The new framework still uses the same grid as Bootstrap as well as incorporating the new Style Guide for better consistency across the site.
